Fibromyalgia’s Impact

The symptom-based disorder is gaining understanding by both physicians and their patients, leading to better treatment options.

Once thought of as a “wastebasket diagnosis,” fibromyalgia is now establishing its position among today’s chronic pain disorders as a clearly defined condition. While the symptoms are non-specific, the combination of widespread pain, fatigue and sleep problems, and cognitive complications continuing for at least three months is consistent with the diagnosis.
