Clarifying Gout’s Confusion

Although the incidence of gout has tripled in the past 40 years, it’s often not identified or treated well.

Historically referred to as the “rich man’s disease,” gout was once a curse experienced only by royalty who could splurge on the overindulgent lifestyle associated with the condition. Today, the presence of red, tender, swollen, hot joints is not confined only to the wealthy.
