Is vitamin D the cure for all that ails you? According to the headlines, the vitamin-also known as the sunshine pill- goes beyond benefit to the bones, with the potential to ease migraines, help hives, and prevent strokes as well as lower cholesterol. Adding to these claims, a recent study presented at the World Congress on Osteoporosis (April 2014) bolsters news for bones with findings that show long-term vitamin D insufficiency was associated with a greater 10-year risk of having a hip or osteoporotic (bone disease) fracture in elderly women.
