If you tell your doctor you have hip pain, youll probably be asked to be more specific. Hip pain may be felt in the front of the hip, the outside of the hip, the inner thigh or the back of the hip, and there may be other symptoms, says Cleveland Clinic orthopaedic surgeon Ronald Zipper, DO. A more detailed understanding is needed to identify the source of pain. The top three causes are bursitis, osteoarthritis and hip fracture. But there are others.
