8 Pain Remedy Mistakes - and How to Avoid them

Combining pain meds, often unknowingly, can lead to dangerous, sometimes life-threatening, consequences.

With all the over-the-counter treatments available, itís easy to take a pain reliever that clashes with your prescription arthritis medication. The combination could cause unwanted side effects or even life-threatening consequences, warns rheumatologist Daniel Mazanec, MD, director of Cleveland Clinicís Center for Spine Health. To help avoid potential problems resulting from drug interactions, unintentional overdosing, or ill-advised combining of drugs, alcohol, and herbal supplements, Dr. Mazanec shared eight of the most common arthritis-medication mistakes to be aware of.
