Mobile Apps Improve Outcomes for People with Rheumatoid Arthritis
Effective management of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) can reduce symptoms, and mobile apps for managing RA have gained popularity. A recent systematic review published in March 2025 by Public Health Nursing evaluated the effectiveness of mobile app-based care and identified eight trials with a total of more than 3,000 people with RA. The interventions ranged from six weeks to 12 months. Mobile apps for RA typically track pain and medication. They also usually offer education about RA and advice about handling flare-ups. They may offer connections to support groups or pathways to connect and share information with your clinician. The authors concluded that mobile app-based care was effective at improving quality of life, relieving pain and relieving disease activity.
