Studies are now showing an association between vaping or e-cigarette use and inflammatory arthritis. Previous studies have shown an increased risk of rheumatoid arthritis in cigarette smokers. Vapes, also known as e-cigarettes, are small handheld devices used to inhale nicotine, flavoring and other substances into your lungs. Cigarettes burn tobacco to make smoke, but vapes heat vaping liquid to create aerosol. Both are addictive and can be harmful to the lungs and other aspects of health.
