Elbow replacement surgery can improve pain and stiffness in the elbow, but the tradeoff is that the arm will have lifting limits for life. “The biggest challenge with elbow replacement is that it has a lifetime lifting restriction of five to seven pounds,” says Cleveland Clinic Orthopedic Surgeon, Steve Maschke, MD who specializes in surgeries on the hand, wrist and elbow.
