Before an appointment with a rheumatologist at Cleveland Clinic and many other places, people receive an electronic invitation to answer some questions about their current condition. Depending on the provider, the questions may appear online in the days before the appointment or on a tablet or paperwork in the waiting room. The questions could be about quality of life, pain, function, fatigue, sleep, mood or more. These surveys, known as patient-reported outcomes (PROs), are a systematic way to bring the patient’s experience to their clinician and track changes over time.
