Joint pain and stiffness can make getting dressed challenging. The difficulties might be caused by a sudden injury, surgery, progressing arthritis or other conditions. Challenges can arise suddenly or gradually. Your feet might become unreachable with your hands. Raising your arms over your head might become painful or impossible. Cleveland Clinic occupational therapist Nicole Young MS, OTR/L, helps people who have challenges with grip strength, reaching or raising their arms, bending over or bending their legs to dress after hip or knee replacement surgery. She offers some strategies and tools to make getting dressed easier.
