When a person presents with knee pain at Cleveland Clinic orthopaedics, the orthopaedic surgeon might look to the hip. “I recently had a patient in my office who could barely walk because both knees hurt so badly. There was nothing wrong with his knees on X-ray, and he had already seen multiple providers. Seeing nothing wrong with his knees, we got X-rays of his hips, and both had very significant arthritis. The solution for his knee pain was hip replacement surgery,” says Cleveland Clinic orthopedic surgeon Trevor Murray, MD.
