A home gym can be simple to put together and relatively inexpensive if you know what youre looking for. But before you buy, "its important to think about your goals and what you need to achieve them," says Susan M. Joy, MD, director of Womens Sports Health at Cleveland Clinic. "If you set goals, youll see results, function better, and be more motivated to exercise," she says. Its also important to commit to using the equipment youre planning to buy. "Exercise equipment is expensive, and you dont want yours to end up being an overpriced coat rack," Dr. Joy adds.
