Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a common type of mental health counseling that helps a person become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking to help view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them more effectively. CBT therapy can be effective in as little as one session for some, while others may require multiple sessions to gain the benefits.
