Arthritis in the Shoulder

Osteoarthritis can affect the ball-and-socket joint of the shoulder.


Shoulder pain can have many possible causes, one of which is osteoarthritis. While osteoarthritis is more common in the weight-bearing joints, such as the hips and knees, the shoulder is not spared. Studies show that it may be present to some degree in up to ­one-third of adults over age 60.
