Stem cell therapy...Dietary advice


Q. I have back pain from arthritis, and my doctor says I have disk degeneration. It seems like I’ve tried everything and I’m still in pain. I’ve heard about stem cell therapy. Could that help?


Stem cell therapy is a potentially promising approach for musculoskeletal pain from conditions such as osteoarthritis and degenerative disk disease. However, even though the treatment is offered in clinics around the country as well as some medical centers, it is still being studied. It has not yet been shown conclusively to have a benefit. And it is not covered by health insurance.
