The hip is a common site of osteoarthritis. To help protect your hip joint from wear and tear, its important to strengthen the muscles that support it. These exercises are designed to both strengthen and stretch the muscles around your hips, aiding everyday movement. A resistance band, made of a stretchy rubbery material and available in most sporting goods stores, adds a strength-traning component to the leg swings. If you have hip pain or other joint problems, talk to your doctor before attempting these exercises.
