The whole sales pitch behind the "easy chair" concept is simple: comfort. When you sink down into a big, soft chair to watch television, read, or maybe even take a catnap, its supposed to feel good. But feeling good in the short term may cause long-term problems. Easy chairs should feel good and provide the features that ease the discomfort of arthritis. "Comfort is important, but its also important that you make sure you can get into and out of your favorite chair easily and safely," says Manisha Agarwal, OTR/L, MHS, an occupational therapist at Cleveland Clinic.
