Cupping is a soft ­tissue technique that uses small suction devices to lift underlying tissue and move it. “It is a tool that some physical therapists and other providers use to reduce pain and improve flexibility,” says Adam Mizer, PT, DPT, OCS. Mizer learned this method during his physical therapy residency and has been using cupping for eight years as a Cleveland Clinic physical therapist.
