Acupuncture Gains Favor for Arthritis

Researchers, physicians, hospitals, health organizations, and health insurers recognize the efficacy of this ancient healing art in relieving pain.

Forty years ago, few people in the U.S. knew anything, about acupuncture, the centuries-old Chinese system of health care that aims to prevent or cure certain physical disorders by placing needles into specific points on a patientís body. Today there are well over 10,000 licensed acupuncturists in the U.S. and more than 3,000 physicians who apply the technique to millions of Americans annually, a great number of which are suffering from osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and other types of disabling arthritic conditions.
